Forest Therapy
Forest Therapy (also known as Forest Bathing or Shinrin-Yoku) began in the 1980s in Japan as a health intervention to help people who were spending a lot more time indoors and behind screens become healthier. The Japanese conducted multiple studies to discover how to lessen the spike in cancer and disease they saw in their population and came to the result of Forest Therapy.
Today, a large body of research supports Forest Therapy as beneficial to not only our physical but also our mental health. Some of those benefits include:
Reducing depression, stress, and anxiety
Boosting mood
Improving immune system functioning
Increasing concentration
I am a trained Forest Therapy Guide through the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT). The way we are trained to guide is inspired by the principles of Shinrin-Yoku but focuses much more on the reciprocal relationship with nature.
Forest Therapy is not strenuous, a hike nor will have a naturalist knowledge focus.
Each walk is $30 per person. Please contact carissadonahoo@gmail.com for family or group rates.
